Background
After finishing High School in Darwin in 2010 - I went to live and teach English in a Tibetan Buddist Monastery (Tashijong Khampagar Monastery) in Northern India for 5 months. Whilst being immersed in Tibetan and Indian culture I became interested in Buddhist and Hindu Contemplative practices - attending lectures with Tenzin Palmo and the Dalai Lama, where I caught what I now call the ‘Dharma bug’.
Returning to Australia to study economics at Melbourne University, I felt an ongoing thirst for Yoga and meditation practice - beginning my journey with Greg Cooper at Ashtanga Yoga Melbourne. After six months of living in Melbourne and developing my Ashtanga practice I felt the pull towards understanding the human body more deeply. So I decided to shift degrees, and study Physiotherapy at James Cook University in Townsville.
From 2013 to 2018, I stayed in Townsville completing my Physiotherapy Degree and developing my Yoga practice with my “Ashtanga Mum” Allison Dearling at Live and Breathe Yoga. During this time I was lucky to be exposed to/study with an array of brilliant teachers such as Matthew Sweeney, Mark Robberds, David Keil, Santina Giardina-Chard, Daniela Ceccarelli, and Paddy Mcgrath.
Following a foray into Vipassana Meditation from 2013 to 2015, where I attended and served on multiple courses, I found myself searching for more guidance and clarity in my meditation practice. In 2015 I met my teacher Mark Togni and subsequently became his Zen student - attending bi-annual zen meditation retreats and practicing with him when I could at the Gold Coast Yoga Centre.
Following a natural curiosity after being exposed to the work/ ideas of Ido Portal in 2014, I’ve explored a personal ‘movement’ practice including: Gymnastics Strength Training, Handbalancing, Locomotion, Contemporary dance, Object manipulation and Rhythm work.
My teachers and inspiration in movement practice have included Jon Yuen, Harry Williams, Derek Scolnick and my friends and monthly coaches from the Online Movement University.
I live, work and practice on the Gold Coast, Australia. I consult both online for interstate and international clients and in-person on the Gold Coast. I also run workshops on Yoga, Meditation practice, Anatomy and Pain Science throughout the year.
